Distinguishing Features
This wide-leafed, asymmetrically three-lobed leafy liverwort is a cryptic presence in peatlands, where it wends its way through Sphagnum. The pale green leaves are wider than they are long, very distantly spaced and attached to purple-red stems obliquely along their length. Leafy shoots are up to 2 cm long and 2 mm wide. Its presence in bogs, wide leaves and purple-red lower stem make it easy to recognize on the off chance its peaks out from the Sphagnum.
